I got a BPS crappie kit with miniature 'dads in it in different colors so I think live one should work. Don't be surprised to get several Lmb, too.
anybody ever try using crawfish for crappie. It goes against the norm but hey.
Ive got a creek with lots of little one and was going to catch some and try them at the lake this week to see if the crappie are up yet.

I have a jig with a face like this!
I have caught slabs on the real thing, but never artificial. I used to fish small crawdads around some stumps in Kentucky for rock bass and often caught crappie. If you work those things right you'll catch em.
I dont know what it is but I have tried plastic crawdads like those and renosky's in natural colors and never had a bite. Im going to go get about 50 crayfish tonight. They are about 1.5-2" so I should hopefully catch a few nice size slabs or some small bass. It will be interesting. I will fish my crappie jigs at the same time and we will see what the diff is.

Heck them crayfish are about to catch a big one, me LOL! I am in the mood for some boiled dads and soon they will hit my table.
I caught a 1.5 pound crappie about 3 weeks ago that had a 2.5" crawfish in her gut.

Artificials work good when Crappie are shallow. The real deal ought to slay them. CF

I have caught a lot of large crappie with the small crawdad crank baits this time of year. The only bad part is you get hung up a lot more than your regular jig.
