    Default Split-shot weights

    Do you haveany preference regarding the round vs. re-useable split-shot?

    Thanks!

    Wink For me ....

    the #4 Gremlin "removable" ones are the most often used. Tightlining a minnow, or when using a styrofoam float/minnow, they seem to be able to keep even a good sized minnow (2-2.5in) from moving the line, or float, around. They're also good when slow trolling or drifting with minnows ... keeping the minnow down where I want it. ........ cp

    I've always wondered how much the splitshot weights...I like the round ones better....I always see #'s like BB, B, #3, #5 and so on...Usually, if there's a weight on it, it's usually a bass sinker in 1/4 oz. or heavier....Anyone have a scale to measue this?????DemoMan

    Exclamation Ok -- here goes ...

    These are Water Gremlin brand - lead reusable pinch-on sinker sizes/weights :

    B = 0.31gm = 0.01oz (1/100oz)
    BB = 0.56gm = 0.02oz (1/50oz)
    3/0= 1.04gm = 0.04oz (1/25oz)
    #7 = 1.83gm = 0.06oz (1/17oz)
    #5 - 2.54gm = 0.09oz (1/10oz)
    #4 = 3.61gm = 0.13oz (1/8oz)
    #3 = 4.31gm = 0.15oz (1/7oz)
    #2 = 7.20gm = 0.25oz (1/4oz)

    (weights in grams & decimals are rounded off -- weights in parenthesis are approximated to make them recognizable)

    There are other sizes, but these are the most popular ones. There are, of course, other "brands" ... and their sizes/weights could be slightly different.

    Default weights

    I use the Water Gremlin Bull Shots. They have the weight in ounces on the package.

    crappiepappy,

    You've come through once again and ended up in my "favorites".....Thanks my friend....I was planning to buy a mold and make my own....I found a mold that put out only 1/32 and 1/16 oz. I thought that would be two good sizes to work with.....Thanks again.....

    I was at the BPS in Clarksville, In last week and a salesman showed me some Water Gremlin Assorted removeable split shot...Must have been through a "sweat" or something...They were all "oxidized" looking...I pointed this out to him and he just hung em back on the shelf...lol....DemoMan

    I use #4 Gremlins also. Dont know the times I've saved the weights when making changes on my line. The #4's work great tightlining small to med. minnows.
