Put a little WD40 around the post, wait a minute and then try to turn and lift.
I have 2 Scotty rod holders that are mounted on a kayak dash board. I want to take them out of the base to put into gear heads on my newer kayak. They won't budge. I have pushed down, pulled up and tried to twist but they won't budge to come out of the base. Anyone else have a problem like this? Pop

Hello: Try to lube the post if possible. It has to pop up before it will turn to remove it. Wiggle , shake and tap on it till it pop up. Good Luck . O - R
Had a fleeting moment thinking about WD40 but figured it was me, not that the rod holder could be stuck like that. But it was stuck like that, the WD40 and wiggling, shaking and tapping on it till it popped up. worked. Thanks, Pop

Must be up before turning, at least mine do. Should be open on the bottom of the base. Small piece of dowel and tap it up with a hammer.
