Folks, I want to insure you that fixing the problems with the crappie at Wappapello Lake is still at the forefront for the agency. As many of you know the public meetings were postponed in May due to flooding. We are still going to gather public comment on options we will be proposing, but we are taking a little different route. The first opportunity for public comment will be at the Department of Conservation's 80th Anniversary Open Houses. The first open house will be at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center on August 8th from 6:00-8:00pm. Wappapello Lake will be one of the discussion topics and I will be in attendance to answer any questions. If you can make it, I encourage you to come. I have attached a link below that talks about the open houses. After the open houses, we will be presenting potential options to the regulations committee in Jefferson City. If approved, we will then be garnering public support and comments on the proposed options through online forums, public meetings or other avenues. We are moving in the right direction and I will continue to try and keep everyone updated on this forum. In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to email or call me.
