    Default Jig head color?

What's your favorite or does color even matter?

I use white or yellow if I'm using a painted head, but I've caught just as many on an unpainted lead head so....

When casting plastics, my jigheads are un-painted. When pushing jigs, my jigheads are various colors (red-black-chartreuse-green-white-pink) and I use them in coordination with the body color of the plastics I put on them, either to contrast with the body color or match the body color. I mostly use the "matching" head color with the body color to make the jig appear "bigger" ... and the contrasting head/body colors to make the jig more "visible" under various water clarity & weather conditions.

IMHO - even though a jighead isn't "painted", it still has a color : new shiny ones are "silver", while old oxidized ones are "grey" ... and both of those colors contrast with the bright colors of my plastics.

Rarely do I use a painted head. About 99% of the time it's just plain lead.

I like pink , white and chart with black eyes if I am using painted jigheads .....not sure if it matters though and use unpainted just as much . Sometimes it seems to make a difference , other times not so much .

you might search on youtube for any videos about jig head color. I've seen that you want to use dark/bright colors in stained water and lighter colors in clearer water. I think anything that matches the natural bait presentation is what the fish will hit on though. I'm sure there's a Wally Marshall video out there where he shares his expertise.

What ever give you confidence is going to be the best for you! Personally I like to match color within a combination that I like. Example my Fav if water is stained, but not terrible would be Chart/Blue/Chart, but if I can see my Jig 3' down in the water, then I want a Silver/Silver/FL Blue jig or one of my more clear combos like Silver/Blue/White. I like Flame Red or Pink or several others colors just depends on what I like. So pick what you like most so you have more confidence so you will fish it longer and harder and better!

Very rarely use painted heads. I do very well with the unpainteds.
