How do you all store your long rods. Do you break them down? Do you use rod socks? Any and all ideas welcome, just trying to shorten the learning curve? Thanks

I see rod racks on boats that allow you to store rods in one piece. I personally don't like them because it takes up one complete side of boat. I split mine, wrap a velcro strap around them.

I use rod socks, myself. I can store them in the rod locker for transport, then take the sock off and put them together when on the water (or beforehand, prior to launching, if I'm going to use them right away).

I use rod socks (various brands/materials) on all the rods I take for a days fishing, and they all travel in the rod locker until being used. I don't always just use one method in a day's fishing, so I may have several rods from 6' - 14' long with me ... and the socks keep them from becoming entangled with each other (or with my partner's rods, if they come along).

are you talking about day to day storage or for your boat?

My longer 14 ft rigging rods stay setup in the holder in my boat.I breakdown my jigging poles when I'm done for the day and put them in the rod storage on the boat.
