Default Good Day on the Water

Me and the hubby hit the water at 5:30 this morning and were catching a few before breakfast. The sunrise was something to behold, there were ducks all over and the turkey were active and vocal too. Paul caught another nice one today, 2 lb 11 oz. I caught my share, but this is twice now that he's "big fished" me. Gotta put a stop to that real quick or else he's gonna get cocky. The wind cooperated until about mid day and then it really started to blow, as it always seems to do at Ky Lake. You can definitely tell the spawn is approaching - the crappie were all pretty chunky and they're starting to darken up. Water temp ranged from 48 to 55 degrees today. I sure hope everybody enjoyed the day as much as I did, cause it sure felt good just to be out there on the water. I have to say this though, it did get nice and warm, about 77 degrees, but geez, was it declared "Nekked" Day? I must've seen half a dozen men out there with no shirts!! I'm kinda afraid what they'll take off when it really gets hot this summer! :D

Vonna, you been feeding those crappie some of your molasses cookies?..

Did you take them by CanePole's?

I see "Big Red" is still boarding with you...

Great looking fish. How do you all like fishing out of that Express?

Nice fish but, it does not look to be over one pound up against Paul's giant body.

Hey slowpole, we caught most of ours 17 - 19 ft deep vertical jigging 1/8 oz jigs with orange/chart, blue/chart, black/chart tube jigs and the ever present crappie nibbles!!! (Did you hear that Fatboy?!?!?!) We tipped a few with minnows, but the crappie nibbles were gettin it done better.

Don, I haven't made molasses cookies since Christmas! Cane Pole wasn't at the lake or we would have detoured by his place for sure.

Dave, love the Xpress, just don't need the 21 footer.

Good catching kiddies. Wish I could be out, but you 2 know the story here. Some things come before fishing.
