This will not be good for sportsmen.
Bass Pro had already priced there stuff so high I stopped buying from them a long time ago. I was buying some things from Cabela's because it was a little cheaper and here in Mississippi there was no tax on buying from them as we had no Cabela's store located here. I think with this merger the prices of all their products will completely price their self out. That's ok as we have plenty of crappie.com sponsors here that can meet our fishing needs. So the next time you need some fishing products scroll down to the bottom of the forum page and check out the site sponsor's.
Be safe and good luck fishing
I started buying locally years ago...that's all I'll buy now
Neither of these stores have the best prices anyway so I am not sure how they can keep such a high profile. Once upon a time they were the best game and had better prices than most, but that day is long past and gone! You can beat their prices pretty easy. Just look at their prices of tying materials, they are sky high and many places are less for the same thing!

I love going into both stores. However, I am mostly browsing and not buying. We don't have a Cabelas in TN, but the closest BPS to me is always packed with customers. Granted, that is generally on a weekend. The cash registers always seem to be hopping pretty regularly, so obviously my opinion of "prices too high" is not shared by all. That being said, as long as we have Member Sponsors and Academy Sports, I'll be just fine!
That's true fellas about buying jigs, hooks, sinkers, tying material, line, etc. I choose local folks, as well as Academy for such things. But, Cabela's has the finest meat processing around, period. I know such things, been through lots over the years. Make my own sausage, hamburger meat, jerky, jar and can, etc. with their equipment. Includes such things as their grinders, slicers, dehydrator units, etc. Excellent products, that's my
