Default Good Color of jigs to use this time of year.

As I said in my profile I am relatively new to crappie fishing. I am asking for any tips, tricks, or any kind of help. I am very curious about what colors are working best for everyone this time of year. The only thing I've really heard is that blue is always a good color for spring. Everyone please keep mind that I'm only 20 and know very little so I am very open to criticism and any kind of help thanks and good luck to everyone out there.

Colors are usually different for different color water, but I keep a lot of different colors, because the best color is the one they are hitting when I am fishing.

Don't let "colors" rule your way of thinking ... or else the "Bait Monkey" is going to have a ball with your wallet :D

Seriously though ... The first few years I Crappie fished, using jigs, there wasn't much in the way of color choices. White, Yellow, or Black were about the extent of it. I never used black, but white and yellow worked just fine. If you want a reasonable selection of colors, to start out with, then consider some of these:
    white - yellow - chartreuse - green - brown - black - pink - red - blue
And consider any, or all of them, with a chartreuse tail.

Read the "Articles" section of this site, and the "tips" section of the BnM Poles site. And keep reading the forums of your choice, and post your questions or replies, accordingly. We're here to help ...... luck2ya ... cp

I let the water clarity tell me where to start and most will have chartreuse, but all hot pink is what I used yesterday after starting out with my Mean Green Jig which has a Green head, variegated black and FL. Yellow and a FL. Chartreuse tail, I also use the same jig with a FL/ Red head.

I like a lot of colors and will change them as I feel the need. My Christmas Jig is one of my standby jigs ad it's FL. Red head green body and FL. Yellow tail.

I also like silver head/FL. Yellow/Light Blue tail a lot!

I use black with a chartreuse tail most of the time, but different colors may work better for you in your waters. I'm going to give pink a shot this year. I've never used it.

Same here. Can't go wrong with chartruese as part of the color. You can mix it up like I do, I fish with a fluroscent orange head, black body, and chartruese tail. I've been reading a lot of crappie books and watching plenty of videos and the consensus is that chartruese is by far the most popular color to catch crappie. Caught me a 2lb crappie on the jig below this past November.

Blue/Black and Blue-Black/Chart. Most of the time in the spring the lakes are heavily stained because of the rain. These two will get it done. This is dark blue of course!

My grandfather-in-law swears you don't need any jigs other than black/chartreuse. I use all kinds of colors, although most of them have either chartreuse or black in them. But then again, he always caught more fish than I did...
Jeremiah 16:16a "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the Lord, "and they will catch them."
