Mine always been the Rapala with the birch handle. I use the 6" blade on crappie and bream and the 7.5" on catfish.

I have always used Rapala, various sizes. Last year i upgraded to a battery powered, rechargable Rapala. Came with a case, extra battery, and extra set of blades. that is the ticket!

I love the flexibility of this knife's blade it makes deboning very easy.

    Default Good Fillet Knife

I have a Gerber and it may be me but I can never get it sharp. I can on my hunting knifes. I was on a offshore fishiing trip once and the boatmate was using a fillet knife to clean some catch. His knife seemed to work really well and I saw that he would hit it with a hand held sharpener with a x shape ever so often. He was using a knife by Dexter Russel. These usually have a Hi carbon steel content. The mostly stainless (to me) are almost impossible to sharpen due to the flex which prevents a constant edge angle. I think this was the reason the boatmate used the draw thru device. Check Dexter Russel out at www.kitchenstuff.com. just my opinion >>>> good luck

I'm a Rapala man. I have every blade between 4.5 and 9 inches. But MisterTwister has my dream knife...battery operated Rapala!
