    Default Any reports from Hickory?

A guy I work with has been the last two weekends pulling planers. He caught a 2 lber this weekend and a 12-15 lber last. Only one bite each time. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Reelsmoke, you're the Hickory specialist, what's going on over there?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Dang Bro... hate I missed your post, In May we (me and my 2 boys), were fishing offshore out of Southport and putting some meat on the deck. Mahi bite was on for 3 weekends in a row. Just so happens that this past weekend myself and Reel Smoke II pulled hardware on Hickory Saturday morning, did the same on Norman Sunday morning, no bites except for Largemounth , we looked from the Dam to Gunpowder... water was clear and 84. Hope to find something soon and will keep you posted.

    Thanks Smoke

Thanks for the report. I'm at Clarks Hill this week. We're finding numbers, just no size. I think I'm going to try a different section of the lake to try later this week. This place is enormous.

You guys down lining? What are they hitting maybe we could give that a try here in NC and get something going.
We can only fish at night or until about 10 because of the recreational boat traffic.

It's the same here. We're fishing from daylight till about 11. Our best results are on live herring about 2 cranks off the bottom in deep holes below the Russell dam.

Caught 21 yesterday and 29 today. Nothing big. About half are good eating size.

    Reel,
Pulled Pete's alabama rigs on tillery Saturday from Woodrun almost the entire length of the lake. Never got a hit. Marked lots of bait, but no takers. Not even a lone crappie or largemouth on the crankbaits I pulled as well. Tough right now.

Just got a report from a friend who was below the Rhodhiss dam last week in a Kayak. He said the stripers were knocking bait out of the water everywhere.

    It's about that time!

Anybody hear of anything going on with stripers anywhere. May go try your crappie out NCKenner on high rock unless I get a good striper report. It is about time for them to move up in rinks on Hickory. Sure do miss living up there. Great striper lake.
