Default Crappie at night with lights

Quick question..... What are folks doing when crappie fishing at night with lights if fishing from a bass boat without anchoring? Example is fishing ledges on main river channel over brush in 20 ft of water. Do folks just hang a submersible light off side of boat. Just seems it would be a lot of movement at times using trolling motor to stay on marker buoy. Just curious

I have been told that we're crappie are during the day don't fish there at night. There not there. I've got some lights just not had time to go yet. I chatted with some folks on here a while back and that's what I was told. Also I think the light is only down couple feet in water and if they troll its a really slow troll.

Most folks have the light in a stationary type situation and hope to attract swarms of baitfish and eventually crappie ....sometimes it takes a while to develop as well .....

You can drop anchor and tie off to a rock face put lite in water floating or in a foot or so. The minnows will circle the light we use a small trebble hook and snag a minnow let it drop to bottem 2 turns hang on 2 more hang on get the picture.

There is many methods of fishing the lights. We fish dock lights and underwater lights mostly.

I think most folks ancor up when using lights. You ancor or tie up, put out the lights. The lights attract the baitfish, which attract the crappie and perch.

I use the underwater green lights with led white lights on my pontoon and spider rig all night in the summertime. The bait fish will follow your lights, when the crappie start hitting I will spot lock there till they slow down then start trolling again. We catch lots of fish using this method, good luck and God Bless.

Does this work in the winter too? Or, is this primarily for warmer weather?
