Started drop shot fishing having a blast but need a more sensitive rod like a long rod suggestion?
A lot of manufactures make a drop shot rod! I have a G Loomis DSR822S Drop Shot Rod, light extra fast action, 7 ft. 1 pc. It works great, had it for 12 years and still looks like new!!!
Really enjoy fishing the drop shot for crappie."We are the only ones fishing the drop shot for" crappie" on our lakes" .Make our own stuff weights, plastic's ect."could not buy or find what we needed for crappie!! that being said the drop shot rod's are made for bass fishing tech. Not thin mouthed crappie/bream panfish. Most rod's we have found are too stiff especially in deep water where the drop shot is fished. When you set the hook the hook will rip right their lip's. Cabelas has some good rod's in their guide series we have found to work.6-6 and their 7 ft med lite rod's.Bass pro has the crappie max series made especially"1/64 oz"in the 8 ft model for lite line crappie/bream.also we found using braid power pro 2 lb,nanofil 4 lb to help detecting lite bites.hope this helps!!

No Luck - you didn't state what your budget range is for this rod? Rods vary in price tremendously, so give us a clue as to what you are wanting to spend. Middle of the pack would probably be rods from B n' M. They've been in the crappie rod business probably longer than most of the retailer's out there. I drop shot a lot (but for smallmouth), so I know what a decent DS rod should feel like. Look for a rod rated with a "medium light" action. Needs to have a sensitive/responsive tip, but enough backbone to set the hook properly.
For just crappie fishing, I'd have you take a serious look at the B n' M SHSS (Sam Heaton Super Sensitive) in the 7' length. Even the 9' in this rod would work well for drop shotting gills. This rod would probably set you back abut $50.00. There are plenty of rods more expensive - and less expensive. Which is why a budge range is helpful to giving you suggestions.
