    there were a lot of them in Texas, on Toledo Bend reservoir.

    Looks like a banded water snake. If it is, they are harmless.

    Pretty sure it's a banded water snake. I've killed several and hated I did it when I got up close enough to see the head. Better safe than sorry I guess
