    Default Pro-Tec powder paint

I wasn't going to get into painting jig heads but this stuff is so simple I thought I'd give it a try. I don't know how good it will hold up but it sure is purdy.

I have tried many different brands of paint and I like the Pro-tec but I prefer the Spike-it brand. Have you tried it?

    Hey Bill,

Check out Columbia Coatings in Columbia, Tennessee. You can get anything mixed/matched here (send him a jig and he can match the color). It is a car paint place, but his dad fishes. ha. He can mix/match/etc anything you need. 1/2 lb costs 6 - 10 bucks. Big bang for the buck here. Nice folks to deal with too.

I got hooked on the Pro-Tec Power paint myself. Easy to use and looks good.

I don't know. I suppose so. It is just a matter of mixing.

I can't tell much difference between painted and not painted heads. I got to painting these things for the heck of it and kinda like messing with the paint and stuff. I spray (powder) paint my jig heads. I tried dipping. I sucked at that method. Besides, I get a lot of free paint stuff and I have a bunch of cheap laborers. haha

I bought some Pro-Tech (chartreuse) from BassPro on the way back from Arkansas yesterday. I painted a few of some jig heads this afternoon and they came out well. Directions say to bake them after you dip them, but I have also been told that this is not necessary. Most of the time I fish with unpainted jig heads, so it will be interesting to see if I can tell the difference if the weather ever warms up!
the trick to catch that finnicky speck....
gently set the hook just before the peck

The jigs I bake at 140 degrees fo an hour and a half seem to hold the paint better whem you bounce them off of a rocky bottom

I bought some to give this a try. I was wondering how you heat your jigs up. I was using a lighter and ended up melting the lead of some. Others didnt seem to get hot enough.
