are you asking about a 2or more piece rod? on a single piece rod I hook the hook on the reel or hook on the rod and pull the middle of the line around the rod and hook it around the guides. on my 3 piece rods hook the hook on reel and crank until the pieces line up and use a couple of bread ties around all 3 pieces and twist 2 to3 times. BPS has a loop that goes on the rod down by the reel, buy a couple or more rod socks slide rod into them when storing. hope this helps

Go to YouTube and type in "Keeping rods untangled with Ronnie Capps" i have 8-16' Rods and I take them out of the boat every trip, grab them all at once and lay em in a pile and pick em all up at once and put em in the boat when I leave. Very very rarely do I get a tangled tip

Fishing Butler Rod Ties - Dark Blue - One Pair

This is what I use on my 16' rods. Break them down and run one of these about halfway down and cinch. No more problems.
