    Default Small crappie question.

I'm in Alabama and regularly fish the same area year after year. Mainly minnows under a cork or casting jigs. This spring I have caught more 5"-8" crappie than ever. 40+ per day while only averaging 8-10 keepers. Guy told me they were little males but I didn't check under any of their skirts. Any theories about what's up??

Good spawn last year. Hang on for a year or two and they'll get big and you'll have lots of fun.

Plus, we have had a very perplexing fall to present. Started with our extraordinary drought this past summer, super low winter pool, and warm winter. Just call it an interesting year/crappie season. Good news is you are catching! That counts for much. Can't wait to see what this spawn brings soon please, and what next year brings. Good luck always!

Lake turnover. Happens every few years especially if there is a lot of pressure.
