Default Had a workout today longline trolling

I was longlining today by myself on Kentucky Lake and caught a lot of crappie. What a workout!! It was exciting except it was probably 8-10 short fish (8-9") for every one keeper. I ended up with about 15 keepers and threw back what seemed like a million short fish. I probably should have left the area but I kept thinking I would get in to some keepers soon. What would you have done?

Catching is catching. It's all fun.

If I knew of another place, close by, that was very similar to that area ... I might try there. BUT, I would probably expect the same thing to happen there.

I've never been one to leave biting fish to find biting fish, unless the fish I'm catching are ALL dinks. Even on some of those days, I have just stayed on the dinks and enjoyed the pullage. But that wasn't when longline trolling (which I rarely do), but casting ... feeling for the thump or watching for the line jump, whichever bite indicator was detectable. I'm an equal opportunity hooksetter

Slab showed us how to longline properly and it will be a mainstay for me going forward but NOT if I can tightline into brush and FEEL THE THUMP. It's all good and somedays you have to go hunt them and longlining is good for that.

Uh, leaving tons of catching to try and find bigger? I don't have that kind of discipline. love to catch em.

I won't leave fish to find fish unless there is something strange going on. Been burned too many times in the past only to never find a bite when I went chasing one.
