Default Long Lining Rigs - What do you use?

With this being my first four seasons and attempting this thing they call "long lining", i've got quite a bit to learn.
After obsessively researching The Internet, I came across Mr. Crappie's Troll tech Crappie Rigs. Since building my trolling rig at the end of last season, I've equipped it with 10' & 12' rods, and those little bitty $15 Mr. Crappie reels (until I got the hang of it and figured out what would best suit my set up), and have had some pretty hit or miss luck. Now I'm starting to wonder if maybe my trolling presentation is simply flashing too much tackle in their face and scaring them off.
That said, I see a lot of folks use the Capps & Coleman Rigs.
Is there a better option out there I should try?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Are you asking about long lining jigs, or spider rigging?

I use light tackle and 4.5 to 9' rods, Mr. Crappie 50 reels and 8# Stren line. I fish 2- 1/16 jigs and add 1 to 4 -3/32 weighs to attain the depth I want. Four weights = 20' deep. Speed .7 t .9 Mph. 40/50' line out. Even though, you are looking for a reaction bite, Crappie still want different colors, change till you find the right colors

Slab showed me his rig when we were on Lake Griffin recently. It is different and it was effective where he has a roadrunner up front and then just a hook with a flashing blade loose on the line in front. Look for his article on it as it was very effective and is another way to go.

Those Slab rigs are pretty cool, and caught some fish when he was in my boat trolling last year.
