Multiple baits?

Since crappie are a schooling fish and usually found in groups, would having two or three baits on one rod help catch more fish? Maybe two fish at a time? I've done this with Bluegill, putting a slightly heavier bait on the bottom and having another fly live bait or jig a couple feet above while I drift thru a productive area in my float tube. Is this something that serious crappie fishermen do?

I keep one rod rigged with two jigs tied with loop knots separated about 2ft. I sometimes use this when the fish are finicky. I find it helps me figure out what they want (preferred bait) when I use two separate baits on the double rig.

For slow trolling/drifting and spyder rigging, I will use 2 or 3 jigs. Does catch a few doubles and every once in awhile a triple. BUT, I prefer a single jig for long lining, no more than 2.

Very doable when the bite is hot...i always throw 2 keitech swimbaits when the bite is good!

We do this all the time while spider rigging. It's not uncommon to catch multiples.

I use multiple baits/ lures often,I keep a half dozen pre made rigs wrapped and ready to go.
