I can confirm it is accurate up 8". :o
Does anyone know if these numbers are accurate?
I guess they are based on an average.
That list is from In-Fisherman : http://www.in-fisherman.com/panfish/...version-chart/ ... and even they state that these length only measurements in weight are not accurate, just ballpark guesstimates.
Even the "punch in the length" calculators will give different weights for the same length fish on this chart ... most because they don't differentiate between Black & White Crappie.
A 12" Black Crappie from one lake in my state may weigh close to a pound, and in another lake in my state it would weigh closer to 1.25lbs ... and go a little farther South, and that same length fish may weigh close to 1.5lbs. A lot depends on the waters they're taken from, and the overall health of that fish at that time.
If all you can do is measure the length of the fish, then just report it as such. If the actual weight of the fish is that important, get an accurate weighing system. All these guesstimate charts and calculators are going to do is cause people to doubt you.
I wish it was. I would have 3 lbders hanging on my wall. A 16" fish on Martin is 1.75 -2 lbs usually.

Not where I fish
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
Lots of factors drive it .....girth plays a big role in it .....not every long fish weighs well and not every short stocky fish is light .....I have seen fish similar in length weigh big time different because one had girth and the other didn't
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
My wife caught this gal this past fall. Of course, this is a white. I was sure she would go 3 lb. as you can see, approximately 17" (the Frabil checker is all we had to use as reference). 1.89 lbs!
I have found that when guessing the weight most people tend to guess extremely high. Scales even differ greatly but tape measures all measure an inch to be an inch. I don't bother weighing fish any more I measure them. I have marked my cleaning table in 1" increments from 10' to 22". I have yet to get a 22" crappie but have heard of them but 18" is not uncommon. In my home lake they are not bragging fish until they break the 16" mark.
"... when guessing the weight most people tend to guess extremely high ..."
Yup. kinda like boat speed, mpg, ah ---- think I better stop there.
A man's gotta believe in somethin' - I believe I'll go fishin'
Hang around striper fishermen, actual weights are about half what they think
Guides are even worse
