Default Great day on the trout river....uuh...the crappie river.

Had a great day crappie fishing. Hit the river at 9:30 a.m and by 11:00 a.m. had two limits of crappie...total of 30 fish....all 12-14 inches. Could have had 30 crappie in an hour had the brook trout left us alone. Hung around for another couple of hours just for the fun of catching more crappie and brook trout also. All fish caught on a ThunderHawk Midnight Blue Dancer on a 1/8 ounce Micro-fry jig head with a #6 hook. Line used was 2# test SOS. I used my 6' 9" Tict Ice Cube Mebaru rod and my nephew used the new Trout Slayer UL Rod from Leland's Lure. He had an absolute ball with the rod. It really performed great......a rod with sensitivity was required today and it fit the bill nicely. We Sore Lipped'Em All today.....LOL Well over a 100 crappie were caught. The crappie were literally on the bottom in 20-25 feet of water. A very slow retrieve with a slight twitch of the rod tip did the job. Water temp was 48 degrees...remember it is a trout river. The past two weeks have brought home 90 crappie out of same river. Going to hit again Friday if the weather holds. Hopefully will get to fish Nickajack between now and Friday...expecting some storms here this week. Life is good!

Excellent. I purchased a trout slayer rod as well as ThunderHawk Midnight Blue Dancers.
    Looking forward to trying them.

Some really nice looking fish! I ordered several colors in the thunderhawk that I hope to get to try soon.

Your not too far from an opportunity. Closest location for you is probably the Sipsey River below Smith Lake, Alabama or a bit further below the Tim's Ford Dam on the Elk River in TN.

Trout river? Caney Fork? If so, I love that river. If not, I still love it!
