Default Help with Garmin vs. Lowrance

I have two HDS5 units on the boat, trolling and transom. I'm looking at upgrading to a down scan and side scan. I'd like down on the front and down and side on the back. I saw the Garmin units in the store and they made me look twice. 73SV and 73DV. I've always had Lowrance and was thinking about the HDS7 but now I'm not sure after seeing Garmin. Any input would be great. Thank you.
    Be safe on the water!

I had lowrance. Then hummingbird. Now garmin. Garmin has been my favorite by far. It's actually the only one I haven't had issues with. .....yet.

I have always had lowrance and still do and like them a lot with that being said my fishing buddy just bought a garmin and it has the best screen I have ever looked at. If I were buying a new unit I would give the garmin a good look.

I am really looking at the garmin for a new front unit myself. If you get them give us a review.

I have a lowrance up front, Garmin on the console, Garmin **** lowrance *** but that was on a Wednesday, On Thursday it may be the other way around, Like em both. The lowrance is a 5 with down scan works great, The Garmin is a sv7 and it works real well, even comes with preloaded brush piles on mo. lakes.

I have Lowrance Elites and love them.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Have the Garmin 93sv chirp on my TM. I'm very happy with it, easy to use. CS has been extraodinary for any queries I have had. It's my first sv/dv. Is it the best unit as such, I can't say. Clear pics and I have found a lot of stuff I never knew was there in the past year. Repair policy exceeds the others in my opinion. Best all around unit I've owned and I started in '70.

Just got my Garmin EchoMap 73sv installed on the console and a Garmin Striker 7dv on the front. Have not had them on the water yet. I will post on them after I play with them a bit.
I have had both Lowrance and Garmin in the past on other boats. Liked both.

The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Here is what I did, I have Humminbird on my console which I love but was on tight budget so I just got a Garmin echomap 53cv (on sale at Academy for 279 vs 499 last years model but bargain for the money) for up front will install it tonight and try it out in the morning. Should be a big upgrade from the Lowrance Mark5 I'm replacing.

Have had Garmin 73 DV on front TM, for 2 years, love it, no problems! Been with Garmin products since 2004, never had anything go wrong. They also have a 800 help number Monday-Friday if you have questions while your on the water.
