What y'all think. I have become an avid jig pusher. I've been using the caps and Coleman double rig with success. Last year I started doing some pulling and I like that also when conditions and location allow, also using double rigs. Now days all my rigs are baited with plastics of some kind. I was just thinking about going to all single rigs to simplify the process and reduce the annoying tangles that have to happen. Are the double rigs worth the extra trouble just to have more baits in the water? Help me out with yall's opinions pleas

Tony ... my personal opinion is that unless "double fish hookups" are a common occurrence with "double jig rigs", then a single jig rig is probably going to put just as many (or near as many) fish in the boat, and with a lot less mess.

I've fished Weiss a few times, longline trolling, and our host (now a guide) was using double jig rigs, as were most of the other 27 boats in the area .... and I didn't see anyone pull in two fish on one line. And as I remember, most of our host's fish were caught on the end jig. And even when we used double minnow rigs for "bottom bouncing" the ledges ... I don't remember any of us catching two fish at once.

Now, I'm sure it happens ... just not so sure it happens often enough to offset the aggravation of entanglements or hang-ups.

The only time I double jig is when fish are deep. Otherwise one jig for me. A lot less stressful. And I've never caught 2 at a time.

Double rigs also allow you to fish 2 depths, helps to zero in on the feeding depth.

    What he said
i use double jigs to help determine the depth the are at .and use it with different colors until color they want is determined. And do catch doubles quite often

All good points and jives with what I've experienced. I'm gonna be pushing 8 rods tomorrow morning and will not be fishing water over 20 ' deep which is my normal. I think I'll push singles on one side and doubles on the other and see what happens. I love experimentation. I'm leaning towards being all in with Crappie Pappy though, keeping it simple
