When you park your boat between trips or store it, do you put the motor up or down?
In the winter time i put my motor down so all the water will run out.
Mine sits on a sissy bar so if it's not during the winter i leave it up if it's winter i trim it down and rap garbage bags around my lower unit and tie them tight
I also tilt the motor down and tie trashbags around the prop and water intake once all the water is out. Dont want it to freeze and crack in the winter, also as a side bar I run stablizer in the fuel almost all the timesince I dont know how long it will be before I go out again.

You should always leave your motor tilted down in order to let the water drain out. As stated earlier water + cold weather = ice ice + lower unit = BAD
I've also heard duck hunters say that when you launch your boat in real cold temperatures you should let the lower unit set in the water a few minutes before starting. Just in case there is some water frozen in the water pump.
CATCH A BIG-UN
true about the duck hunting...that is what I have done for the past couple years I have hunted out of my boat. Otherwise...it is always DOWN!
During the summer, I just leave it up on the transome saver. That way it is always ready to roll when I am.
During the winter, I put the motor down, pull out the batteries. I also rap and cover my whole motor and lower unit with plastic, so water can't get into it, to prevent any freezing.
Also drain and put new lower unit oil in it. I also raise the tongue to every thing will drain if water does get into the boat or engine.
