Whoever carved that crappie has skills. That is a really cool looking trophy.
A few weeks ago I was asking for suggestions on making a crappie tournament winning trophy. Just thought you guys would like to see what I come up with. About 15 buddies and myself get together the first week of every March and crappie fish for a week. Tournament starts on Monday morning and ends Friday at dark. The single biggest crappie by weight wins the tournament. The winner gets to take this trophy home for a year, have his name engraved on it, with the year and bring it back the next year to present to the new winner. The crappie on top is carved out of wood and painted. The bottom of the trophy was handmade out of scrap wood and bourbon barrel staves. You can see in one of the pictures how the inside of the boards are charred. I thought this was pretty cool being we're from Kentucky, bourbon country. The name on the bottom of the trophy represents a good friend of mine that has passed. He lived for crappie fishing and taught me almost everything I know about crappie. I thought it turned out pretty good and will be pretty neat to pass around over the years. There is seven engraving tabs on the back as well.
