I would check with your airline, I had some shipped and had to buy their approved shipping container.
In July I am flying down to Florida and spend a week offshore fishing with a high school friend, I'd like to bring back some of the catch. My question is, what's the best way to do this?
If the fillets are frozen, can I put them in one of those Engel backpack style coolers

that don't leak and just carry it on the plane?
What have some of you done?

ive done the small cooler as carry on multiple times been few years though might want to give them a call
We go to Alaska every other year and we just take an extra ice chest with us and as long as you do not go over 50lbs it doesn't cost anymore than a regular checked bag. Don't think you can carry on like that any longer. Check airlines.

Steve,
On my trips to Alaska, I had them shipped!
They use a heavy styrafoam cooler. I'm sure you can find one in Floyd's neck of the woods. They ship seafood all over in them. I've had my Halibut, Salmon, and prawns package in dry ice and shipped to me. They got to my house before I did!!!
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Thanks guys.
I ended up calling Delta Airlines and I can bring one of those coolers on as my carry on or personal bag with no problems.
I guess its going to depend on how many fillets I have to bring home, whether I use the "Engel" method or the heavy Styrofoam cooler and have it shipped.
