Default Blackened Fish Soft Tacos. TRY THIS ONE!

Decided to give Fish Tacos a try. I’ve had them at the restaurants but never made them myself. Glad we did. Another excellent fish meal. The wife loved it and we will be making this again. Give this a try. You won’t be disappointed!

    Blackened Crappie Soft Tacos

    Serves 2 (About 5-6 tacos)

    1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 cups bagged salad (lettuce with red cabbage and carrots)
    1/4 cup salsa
    3 tblspn salsa
    1/3 cup sour cream
1 lb dry crappie fillets (or another type of white flesh fish)
    Blackening seasoning
    1/4 stick of unsalted butter
    6" soft flour tortillas
    Lime juice (optional)
    Shredded Mexican blend cheese (optional)

In a medium bowl, mix the cilantro, salad and 1/4 cup salsa. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix sour cream and 3tblspn of salsa. Set aside.

Blacken the crappie fillets as directed on seasoning. (Simply: Coat with melted butter, sprinkle on seasoning, throw in a red hot iron skillet til cooked). Break fillets into bite size pieces. Drizzle with lime juice if you like.

    Warm up your soft tortillas.

Spread a tablespoon of the sour cream/salsa mixture on the tortilla. Place a nice portion of fish on the tortilla. Add some of the lettuce/salsa mixture. Sprinkle with cheese if you like. Fold in half and stuff your face. This stuff is awesome!

    Enjoy!

Should have warned you! I didn't even think about that as I usually blacken my fish outside on the grill side burner.

At any rate, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
    Thanks for the feedback.

I've blackened fish before so I knew it would smoke a lot. Was out of gas in the grill though, so we just put some windows up and turned the fan on.

For those that haven't blackened fish before you should use a cast iron skillet (wouldn't want to use an aluminum or stainless for this) and get it smokin' hot (don't think you could get it too hot) then you just toss the fish in for a second and then flip it. It cooks real quick.
