No...I carry my 14 ft trolling rods rigged up on them and just spaced them apart when I installed the Tipsavers so there supported good.I used the tipsaver to carry my rods all last year and didn't have any issues, good product.

I ordered a 2nd 8-slot post from driftmaster for my 16'ers, so I have one at the butt, middle, and tips. Now if I'm pulling cranks I can fit and support 8',12', and 16's. Plus with only 2 either you had little support in the middle for your long Rods and good support on the tips, or you have good support in the middle and your tips whip around like crazy going 70 down the interstate.

I haul poles 8 to 20 ft. I use (2) Butt sections and a Tip section in the middle. My 27 ft Carolina Skiff has 56 rod holders mounted all around the boat. I do sell individual sections.
