    Default Strange outboard ?

Hello...i have acquired a 1999 Johnson 7 hp outboard that I can not find any info on the web about.
It is a pull start....but has 2 wires that need to be connected to a battery for the thing to run. Is
this a strange one...or some sort of special motor? Does the battery replace a magneto???
Does anyone have a site that could give me more information about this engine?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tnvol

    Default

On one side of the transom clamp you will find the model number of the motor. Go to the website below and enter the number. It will give you a complete parts breakdown.

    http://www.marineengine.com/parts/parts.php

You should be able to tell if it has a magneto or requires an external power source for its points and condenser. A magneto should show as a coil inside the flywheel.

Once you find it post the model number here as I am curious about older outboards and try to keep up.
