Nice job thanks for posting the pics.
Went out to the rock bank Monday in the dark and wore them out , then hit the ole fishing barge at first light and spanked them a rather good bit more for good measure . So when I said I am gunna hit the water with my bud on Thursday morning for half a day the other half asked why ? I said because I haven't been out in forever ....and she said you just went Monday ?
You see for me a period of one day without ketchn a fish seems like forever and 2 days is like some kinda torture , I don't think some folks will ever understand that thought process ,but the angling crowd in most cases understands it totally .
My bud texted me and said lets go get em at 7 am and be back by lunchtime , well its an hour both ways and it seemed possible so off we went . We started about 7:30 am and we both got bit first drop , we continued that program for 3 hours and got back before noon with a load of fish . Both of us used very light tackle for the most part and had a really fun time getting schooled by some of the larger slabs in the pack . Many of the larger fish though fell victim to us though and it was pretty ridiculous fun with them there lil bitty 5 foot 6 whipper snapper rods .
We kept 40 and he stuck me with them to clean and I did 15 for my freezer and donated the other 25 to the less fortunate .
Fish were suspended around 20 to 25 foot deep in 42 foot of water and we stood on them like what I would assume to be a professional manner . I used a predominantly just sparkles bait and a handtie just for grins a lil bit as well . My bud pitched the tackle box at them in experimentation mode .The presentation was a drag it thru the crowd thing and many of the fish just kinda sat down on it as it went by . Rather tricky bites to be sure and I imagine lots of folks wouldn't realize they were even biting . Several fish went in the 2 lb range and I did get my 4 lb test broke twice . This lake has a lake record of over 3 lbs and I am sure at least one of the break offs was a really large crappie .
Passed a "fish" hauling truck on the freeway on the way back in and said hey there ......ME TOO !
hope you enjoy the read and photos and yes I did a tailgate shot for those that like them ....
