    Default Berkely Vanish

I posted this on another forum and got mixed results. I am going to get new line and thought I might give this a try. At the most 8lbs would be what I would get. Probably more like 6lbs test. Heard a lot of complaints about line breaking on the hook set. Anyone have any comments about this line. Never used it before but it sounds pretty good for crappie.

I used original Vanish #6 for a weekend and was so turned off I have not went back to any Berkley lines - after a few break offs on the hookset I discovered that it was breaking at the tip because of fishing the same depth all day it was wearing the line out at that location -it does fish jigs nice but felt like it got beat up on structure - I now use Cajun line #6 and LOVE it!

    Default Berkley line

I have used just about all makes of mono and like Berkley Trilene XL '' Red Box " 6 pound test the best for crappie fishing.

I love it for trolling, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice for
casting in the lighter pound test - to me it is sort of wirey and stiff.
But I have been impressed with the abrasion resistance of it, and
like the small diameter (for the test). I use 12 lb, and it is as small
as a lot of 10 lb lines, and some 8 lbs. As for breaking, it held up to
over an hour against a 40 lb blue doubling up a uglystick trolling rod -
    tough enough for me!

    Default Berkely Vanish

Getting about the same response here. Some people love it, some hate it. However seems to be to many people complaining about it breaking. So what's the best line for crappie? I thought the Vanish or Transition would be good but kind of lost now. I usually use Stren or Trilene.

I like the Vanish and the P-Line. If you wet the line before you cinch the knot you dont get breakage. I use 4 pound test and love it. I've caught many 1-2# Crappie and horsed them up and never had breakage. Like all Fishing lines after you have caught 15-20 fish you need to re-tie.

I use the Vanish10lb test and haven't had any problems. I really like it in clear water.

Put me in the Hate it category. When I tried it I switched reel spools back to what I usually use after about 10 minutes. I have heard other brands of florocarbon were much better than the Vanish tho.

I've used 12# Vanish and like it, but for the lighter line I use the XL or XT in 6# and 8# for most fishing. I also like the 10# cajun red line and would like to try the lighter 6# cajun. Just my .02 cents.

I use the Vanish for all my leaders and have not as yet had any problems. This is my second year of using it.
