Default What Is a Good Deal for a New Boat

What should an angler expect to come off of the showroom price of a boat when haggling with a dealer? Are we all expected to walk in and pay the showroom price? Or can we haggle like we do when we buy our cars and trucks? Is there a ballpark percentage off the asking price that would let a guy know he has made a good deal? What's your experience in this area?

The best thing you can do is research pricing on whatever boat you want and then decide who you would prefer to buy it from. I would try to buy the boat from someone local if possible that would give you good service, but tell them the cheapest you can by the boat for elsewhere and that you realize they have to make some money on the deal and you would prefer to buy it from them, but they need to at least be in the ballpark if you are going to do business with them. If they don't make any money they won't be around to take care of you. There is no specific # you can expect them to come off the boat as it will simply depend on supply and demand. If they are having a hard time selling a particular model they will be much more inclined to make you a deal. Good luck.
