Default look where the crappie are NOT supposed to be .........

I from time to time tell my friends I think things in the world that have been scientifically proven by the whoever they are folks out there that they have it wrong and many times I tell them things that go against traditional and proven scenarios .
Case in point ....I went to a spot yesterday that traditionally has a great winter bite up in a creek real shallow . Now mind ya EVERYONE says they are not up that far yet and its way to early for them to in that area .
So ding dong me just has to go and see how early is early ? And ask the question like if so then why are a lot of the fish here locally already in a winter pattern ?
Well guess what , there they were in shallow water up in that December / January location biting 2 foot under a float ! Now mind they wasn't just biting , it was flat out on FIRE ! I got bit somewhere around 40 or 50 times in so many casts ! To bad I wasn't ready to see my float going under like it had a rock on it so fast and missed a big ole bunch of bites getting tuned into the episode , but boy howdy once I got my ole creek ketchn thing rolling I put the flat out smack down on them .
what a wonderful lunch break that was , I was pitching a 1/32 handtie a bud makes out of west texas under a float I customized to sit right in the water above a jig that light .
anyway ...look where they are not supposed to be .....it could happen ....
until my next foray good hunting to all and I hope you enjoy the read and photos ...

Thanks for sharing. And, congrats on the catch! I had a similar experience in Northern Alabama last week. I think our unusually dry and warm fall has them confused and they're responding differently.

Yes sir I tell people all the time there are no absolutes in fishing. Fish are where you find them. Good looking fish and them are some pretty jigs you got there. I make some very similar to that. Keep busting them myths like crappie never feed on bottom and there not that shallow or deep this time of year. Good job brother.
