I do not have a problem with braid, Lasts about 5 times as long than mono. I do use a mono leader with braid. my 2Cents.
I've always been a lightweight (4-6 lb) mono guy when it comes to crappie fishing, but I have heard mixed reviews of braided line too. So I wanted to get input from the guys that haven't steered me wrong yet. In the context of crappie fishing from the shore, what are your guys' thoughts on braided line versus mono - good, bad, or ugly. And what changes with lure choice (heavier/lighter/etc)? Thanks in advance and happy Friday!

How long of a mono leader do you guys use with braid.
I've been using 2# test braid (fused Fireline) with a 4# test fluorocarbon leader for many seasons now. I'd never go back to straight mono again. Much greater casting distance, no more coiled line due to line twist and super increased sensitivity. I have 4 rigs set up this way and as long as you use an Alberto knot for the leader connection, you'll never have to worry about it. Care free fishing, in my opinion.

I use a double jig set up with about 2' of mono. P.S- I use 20# braid with 8# leader.
Crestliner08 said it all!
I would rather have a good fluro over either.
