Looked out the window...glad to see the snow had melted off my boat cover.
Drove to Cabelas (No ice there!) to check out the new Mr Crappie/Fish On rod holders.

    Smithville still frozen.

Only fished an hour this AM at LOZ north shore. The wind made it hard to enjoy the warmer weather. It was slow with only a couple of keepers finding the hook.

Ice was still thick enough on smithville to go out monday a.m....but too windy to see the line properly, plus about 1 inch of water on top of ice.Made for a wet, messy, morning.
Took a drive with the wife in the evening, lots of water running in the ditches, heavy current in the little platte river, thawed completly north of "c" hiway.
As I was turning around,I spotted a bald eagle about 200 yards down the river on an overhanging tree.Took few minutes but I got it pointed out to the wife(you know how it is...right there...where...in the tree..which tree...that tree?..no that tree...the little one..no over there....etc..... )

About 1 minute later a turkey walked across the ice right under the eagle, later followed by 4 others.I told my wife get ready..watch this....well baldy must have had dinner already, but he sure gave them the "Eagle Eye"..don't think the turkeys even knew it was above them.

Won't be long till I get the catfish rods out, sour shad on the flats at ice out is the ticket.

I crossed below the loz dam last night, the river was running pretty full and fast.
