what is a tuffy?
Caught fish with dead shiners at Smithville on Thursday and had fresh tuffys and they wouldn't even look at them today. If I'd known they were selling me tuffys I wouldn't have bothered.
Anyone else have a similar experience??
what is a tuffy?
A very slippery minnow.. it's what they sell in the winter months instead of shiners also called fathead

Yep, you must have bought minners at Burton's today. I did the same thing, had about 2 dozen shiners left in the minner tank and thought I'll get a few more just in case, didn't realize until I got on the water they were those dang fatheads, hate those things. Weeded thru the shiners and caught some crappie ( one big green ) and the last 2 hrs on fatheads, nothing.
I prefer shiners. But if I use tuffies I have better luck tipping a jig with a body on it than just a plain jig head.
Fat Heads are about all you can buy at LOZ. I only use them on a plain Aberdeen hook...loaded the live well countless times using them...I do like the bigger minnows at Truman but hardly ever get that far southwest
