    Default Yamaha prop

    Guys,

I have a 2000 40hp yamaha that I bought used and I need a new prop, probably will stay away from stainless unless someone has one for the right price.

    I have a 16' polarcraft, semi-v, heavy boat.

What pitch, diameter of prop do I need, the old one doesn't have anything written on it?

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

A positive additude may not fix all of your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worthwhile.

Since there are so many varibles that go into prop selection I would take the old prop to a prop shop and have them measure it. It probably can be rebuilt and save you a lot of money. Here is an excellent article on props. Although they talk about OMC props, it applies to all of them. http://boatfix.com/how/props.html

Check with Hydro Tech. (I think) They are a Yamaha dealer in MO somewhere. Be sure and not over picth it. Not a good hole shot and the motor will not make all the hp it should.

You can't buy an aftermarket prop almost for the price of a prop rebuilt. but if yo want to get it rebuilt. Check out Port City prop shop in Ft Smith AR.

Mike, there used to be a guy on Highway 25 between Gordonville and Dutchtown. The last time I was out that way, I didn't see his sign up so I don't know if he is still there or not. Speck
