    Default Cold Report; 10/10/16

BRRrrrrr.....did I say it was cold? We launched at 8:30 am with air temp at 44 degrees! Add to that a very brisk wind between 15 - 25 mph and you can see why I'm talking COLD. Here is what the waves looked like, although deceiving in that in a larger body of water, we'd be looking at 2' - 3' whitecaps:

She was really kicking up! Our speed was probably close to 2 - 3 mph at least. We did hit a few balls of bait & fish on our drifts, but they were far & few between. We did try the shallows, but with all the wind blown garbage on the water, it was almost impossible to cast, so we went back to drifting. When we pulled off at 10:15 am, we had caught & released 11 nice crappie. But it was just too darn cold to tolerate any longer. Here are a couple of our fish:

The leaves are turning fast, but have been delayed due to the extreme drought conditions here in New England. Here's some of the color:

When we pulled off, the air temp was still at only 47 degrees! Did I say it was cold?

Those are some rosey cheeks there, Walt!
Rich, you guys are braver than me to be out there in this wind. This early in the fall, even mid temps just feel colder than they do in the spring. Glad you were smart enough to call it quits after a bit and to have bundled up for the breeze!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

It looks cold glad you were prepared for it. Be glad when it gets colder here. Those are some nice looking fish. Try dragging a length of log chain to slow you down.
