    Default Crappie debate time .....

to those that have the option ...what do you prefer ....black or white crappie ...?
and why ? I have some of both around DFW that I target .
some spots have lots of one but not the other , some have none of one and lots of the other ....
and yesterday I hit 2 different locations to see what might be in the area for the day ....
the bite wasn't that great at either location but I didn't stay long at either spot ....
and one of those locations hold lots of whites and the other lots of blacks

Since we only have black crappie in my neck of the woods, that's where my vote would fall!

Lakes I fish have both, some even have Blacknose Black Crappie. My preference would be Black Crappie (ounce for ounce) because they do seem to fight harder. And I'd put Blacknose at the top of the Black Crappie listing, because they're the only ones that have jumped out of the water (upon numerous occasions) upon hookset or during the fight.

Great white crappie rule the day in the big 4 in MS.. I've caught 3 specks in the last 18 months on the flood lakes (one 19 1/2" long though, slender as a rail). I catch a good many of the black crappie in private lakes around here and a magnolia or two. Crappiepappy is right I do believe, get a bit more fight out of them. Color don't matter to me none whatsoever, it just goes by geographical areas and what water you fish.. I think they all eat the same and both are a blast to catch.. :-)

They both eat the same. Can't say one fights any harder myself. Only difference I've noticed is white seem to have a little flaker meat.
