Default Fun with the ultra light.

It is fall. Time to check on one of my crappie spots. There is something very special about sitting on a bucket...on the bank....looking at beautiful mountains......and catching a lot of fish in great weather. The big crappie are not there yet....but plenty of 10-11 inch fish. Didn't keep any today as this was a scouting trip.....plus I am fully expecting many limits of 12-15 inch crappie in the coming weeks from this spot. It has produced for me for the past 5 years. I had over 70 crappie today...around twenty 10-11 inch fish....the others were 7-9 inches. Also got into a bunch of 10-11 inch Kentucky bass and quite a few 7-8 inch chunky Gills. Used my Tict Ice Cube 6' 9" Rockin' Drift Mebaru UL rod with 2# test SOS line and a Bison colored Trout Magnet. Fish were holding on a drop off in about 7 feet of water that drops to 21 feet. They were tight to the ledge. The spotted bass put up a great fight on the light gear....as did the crappie and Gills....but the spots were dancing! My week of fishing is over but will start out again Monday. Life is good!

    Regards

.... first time I looked at the pics, I thought the first Crappie pictured was one where someone had "busted a cap" in it (like maybe a 38spl) .... then, upon closer examination realized it was just a piece of brown leaf and not the rock behind the fish showing through

Good job, I try to read all of your reports, I have got some Trout Magnets but have not given them enough swimming lessons yet. Thanks for your reports Alphahawk.
