Default Shared Arkansas post on knives and jigging for Crappie

    Thanks Chris / slackline

Hope you get as good sling'n Crappie on them Ozarks as you do making knives . You got the right bait (purple/chart tubes NIMROD special rigs ) and now just need lots of practice grasshoppa #2 . I think since you got a dose of the ''Thump'' , be tough for the spider to bite .

As many of you know I made a fillet knife and asked NIMROD to field test it for me. Part of the agreement was that he kept the knife after in exchange for his input on possible improvements that could be made to the design. He has put it to use and has provided me with the input I needed, which is much appreciated.

With anything there are limits. I found the limits to how thin the tip of the the knife could be ground without failure for the steel I used at the Rockwell hardness needed. Needless to say a small portion of the tip, about 1/16 inch broke. I picked the knife up and reworked the tip. He tells me now the knife is working much better.

NIMROD helped me out with the fishing too. He turned me onto Ozark 11 foot jigging rods, Southern Pro Umbrellas and things changed for me.

This trip was July 4th. Two limits over 10 inches and a fat chanel cat.

There may be some big spiders but I have not been bitten. Up until this point my crappie fishing has been casting jigs on 6-7 foot rods with the exception of one rod in each hand letting the wind drift me over the fish. I am enjoying focusing on target locations with the Ozark rods with Nimrod Specials and see no change to that coming any time soon.

Don't take me wrong, I hold no animosity for spiders, I just pick them up and carry them outside where they are safe from harm

We are blessed to have two of these fish cleaning stations on Lake Nimrod. One at Carter Cove, one at Sunlight Bay
