Default Never know what you will catch

All rivers up and muddy. Decided to try Osage. Figured it was the best shot at fishing. It was muddy too but what the heck. Found a backwater area that wasn't muddy. Husband caught a 2 lb. 12 oz. bass, a couple smaller bass and channel cat. I caught a 2 lb. bass plus 3 more legal ones. But then husband was going around a gravel hump heading for deeper water. I was just trolling my lure along shallow because it was only about 4 ft deep. All of a sudden I had something. thought at first I had a cat because of weight. But then it took off peeling drag. Next thought well crap I snagged a carp. Husband looked at me and said you have a spoonbill. He saw it when it shot passed the boat. It went sailing across the area and jumped out of the water. Told husband we need to follow. And of course there is a tree in the middle. It went under a limb that was under the water. I couldn't reel and it couldn't go anywhere. We could see it so husband tried to net it. It went back across the top of the limb. Well now we are in a pickle. It had wrapped line around limb. We could see it again. It went a little deeper. Husband could feel it with net. Got it raised up were he could see it. Got it in net. I left out line so he could get it in. It weighed 12 lbs. Was a blast. My light Pluegher reel, 15 lb. braid and flicker shad held up good. Name: DSCN0121.jpg

My husband just laughed and said it is your year. In the last month it has been fun. 8 lb. channel on Crankbait, 7 lb. channel on worms, 9 lb smallmouth buffalo on worms, 9 lb. 8 oz drum on Crankbait and now this spoonbill. Next year will probably be his year.
