    Default Big Cats!

Being fairly new to all out crappie fishing (rehabed bass fisherman) I have been concentrating of casting jigs. I fish my jigs with a pretty aggressive stroke around offshore structure, mainly lay downs. This technic has worked quite well for me. The one thing that I never knew was that a big catfish hold up in those lay downs can not resist those 2in jigs. Caught one in the 5 to 7 lb range this morning.

It's always fun pulling in big fish on light tackle!!!

It sure can be a surprise when they take off. I caught one pretty nice channel cat on an 11 jigging rod about two months ago that was a rodeo for a few minutes.

Cats will eat anything! Always fun on UL. Try a 28" northern sometime.

I had caught several really nice cats. This was the second one on this way point in 2 weeks period. I know that they are in the cover that I have been fishing, I just never knew that they would just hammer a crappie jig. As for crank baits, I have caught my share on those while bass fishing.

Not uncommon in warm weather to catch Catfish on big tube jigs or other Crappie baits . I have caught several some days which are usually Channels but sometimes a Blue or Flathead .

Most of the ones that I catch are blue cats.
