That is a new one to me, I have heard this one many, many years ago and lived by it, when the dogwoods are blooming the crappie are biting! But I have never heard of this one. Thanks for sharing...

"The Fall bite"Which we think is better than spring"not as scattered as in spring but when you find them can catch a sack full."When the Muscadines are riping squirrel hunting starts"feed on musadines "hickory nut's""jig tying"squirrel tail jig's crappie are biting. Muscadines start droping "ripe" days are getting shorter.Water temps are gradually dropping sending shad up the creeks and river's for the spawn. The crappie follow stopping on log's,rocks to feed on shad and your crappie jig's.

Nice catch!! I never heard the muscadine saying neither, heard the dogwoods & clover blooming and had one ole boy tell me his grandpa's saying was "when the cows are laying down the fish are biting"... so who knows.. but they didn't have Internet to tell them when the bite is on.... didn't need it, sure they just went fishing Ripe Muscadines means crappie time.
