nice fish and idea, been there ,done it,at times can be great
sometimes crappie are tricky critters .....they are there but dont want to bite , they are to sneaky when they finally do bite and the list goes on .....
case in point ...my lady wanted to ketch them the other day . they was biting like wild fire ! no big fish but tons of them for sure .We only had jigs with us and she couldnt seem to ketch one with a jig . So ,up pops a lil bluegill and she says ....let me use it for bait !
Of course she knows from hanging round with me this can be one of the MOST deadly baits ever for multiple species. And she also knows me well and knows if you cut it in strips and run a hook point thru one end of it . it flutters in the water and releases scent and fish cant pass on it most of the time .
I put my trusty Kershaw to the job and produced some strips ....and she began to whack them in style ....Barbie pole style that is ....
so if you are out somewhere and dont have exactly what you need ..... a bream hook and a split shot and a slice of bream on the hook point will in fact where them down in most cases .....
make sure it hangs off like a minnow thats been head hooked and it dont hurt to leave a little pc. a tail on it either ....
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales

Good tip!
Good thinking! Many a times I've left the lake with a mess of fish minus the eyes. If you've never tried them, they can be deadly.
Wow! I learn something new everyday here on Crappie.com. Thanks for sharing the tips.
Be safe and good luck fishing
