    Default What is this?

Pardon my ignorance I bought these and can't remember what they are. I thought they would be good for changing out jigs but either my fingers are too fat or I don't know how to operate them.

Mustad Fastach Clips. These looks pretty good! I've used plain "snap hooks" from JannsNetcraft for years and have been relatively satisfied with their ability to quickly change jigs. But there have been times when it's difficult to get a jig on/off using these. I can live with that, but if there is a better product to use, I'm always game.

Now I would definitely NOT recommend plain snaps (i.e.: Duolock type snaps). I've had two of them fail for me while smallmouth fishing, loosing some expensive lures in the process. The snaps tend to break at the bend when used for any length of time, just so you know. Probably from the repeated opening & closing of the snap, which works the weakest link, the bend.

If I'm spider rigging with jigs I always use those, once you figure out how to quickly get the jigs on and off they're awesome for changing from marabou jigs to different color jig heads with plastics to find what the fish want

Like Rk1 said, there is a trick to it and once you do it you still won't know how it works but they are pretty slick on jigs. Tried them on cranks but not much luck getting them on with the arthritic fingers.

It seems to get easier after the first jig. Stretches a little, I guess. Try holding it in pliers or a forcep.

When I first started using them they were called "Kwik clips". That was back in the 60's! Still have some around here somewhere!
