Default Minn Kota MKA 47 universal trolling motor bracket

    Hi all,

Wanted to see if anyone has experience with using the MKA 47 Minn Kota bracket for having 2 different trolling motors for the same boat. Right now I have a Fortrex and am considering getting a Terrova for when I want to troll and not be tethered to the cable drive. My concern isn't really the bracket, its the wiring for the electronics.

I have very clean wiring now under the deck. I'm afraid that in order to be able to do and undo all the wiring for electronics each time I want to switch out motors, Ill have to have the wires more accessible, with lesser type connections than I have now.... which probably means wires laying out in the way which will drive me nuts... . Also, it seems to me that anytime you start introducing connections, messing with wiring, etc. the potential for problems with the electronics arises ....thats the LAST thing I want.

Is anyone out there running two electric motors on the same boat now and have the wiring issues figured out? is there a clean way to do it with maybe a single gang for all wires in 1 harness? I am not aware of any harnesses that would aggregate all the wires in 1 plug and make this real clean and easy.

    thanks in advance.

If the trol motors operate on the same voltage, there should be no problem. Should be same wiring. I use this adapter and I switch tm between boats.

I use an MKA47 to get my RipTide farther back from the nose of my boat so it doesn't hit on docks and such. I have an MKA48 plate in case I ever decide to go to an alternate motor. Great product.

I use the US2 deucer on the fortrex, so i have gotten spoiled with no exposed wires/ connections on the deck. I guess i'd just have 1 connection for that deucer and power for the motor coming out of the dash that's it.

    thanks for your input
