I would fish the spillway.
Hey guys,
Gonna be in the El Dorado area this weekend (July 9/10). I won't have my boat, and will only get a couple of (really early, like 5-8 am) hours Saturday and maybe Sunday. I was wondering if anybody has any thoughts/tips on fishing from the shore this weekend.
Thanks in advance!
Eric

Without my boat!!! I wouldn't even get outta bed
Man I haven't fished Eldorado on foot in years... I think I would go to the to the CORP wildlife area ramp and fish standing timber with a long jigging pole. Lots of timber close to the river channel. The water is high but they are not dumping (I just checked) so it may not be to muddy???
The CORP ramp is between sailboat cove and the RR bridge. Its located east off highway 77 on NE60th street; NE60th dead ends at the lake shortly after you go under or over , I cant remember, the turnpike. Wish I could be more help but I will be bass fishing elsewhere.
Maybe someone else can tell you what the clarity is up there? Good luck...

Thank you much! I think I'll go hammer that ramp in the morning.

How did you do?
I went up to that ramp, but couldn't get out very well into the timber. I looked on Google Maps and found another spot near a ramp off of Cole Creek Road (I think was the name of it), but got sidetracked on my way there when my rear wiper kept blowing fuses. Short attention span struck again! Lol

We fished that area early pre spawn when the wind was howling from the north. It was nice and calm behind the trees down on the lake but no fish.
Should be a good spot close to the channel. Using a float will get you next to the tree stumps easy.
Also the there is bank access between sailboat cove and the quarry. Several place to pull over and walks to the water. Rocky shore. I've had pretty good luck along there. Small mouth. White bass. Bluegill. Small channel cats. And a drum or 2. Especially with a stiff south breeze. Like to throw crank baits due to the rocks. Get them to bouncing off the rocks and you will usually get some fish. Unfortunately I haven't pulled any crappie from that area.
