    Default Electronics

My fancy electronics let me down. I tried to pull crankbaits at the mouth of Big Sandy on Ky Lk today. Tried is key word. My Touch HDS 12 and HDS 7 could not pick up a GPS signal so I couldn't use my map or get my speed. My Terrova remote couldn't find a signal.

So I could not tell how fast I was going or where the channel was. Kind of hard to pull cranks that way. Has anyone else experienced this at the mouth of Big Sandy or was it just my equipment today?

I live just off Eagle creek and haven't ever noticed a problem with GPS signal.

It is odd that both units and the Terrova would not find a signal ...

I agree and hoped someone had an idea of what it was.

I am out here. Just figured it out. I am on my pontoon. I move my hds units from my Ranger to the pontoon. On my Ranger I have the Point 1 antenna. I just changed it in the data sources button back to this unit and it works.

Been dragging cranks all morning near the power lines in Big Sandy. Haven't had a bite. So having GPS isn't helping me much! Lol

Good that you figured it out. I was worried about a possible Alien invasion as it is almost July 4th.

Select best signal mode (Point1 or internal) and it will automatically select without changing parameters.

I experienced something funny this week. I was by myself on KY Lake pushing and pulling cranks. All of a sudden my Helix10 showed my boat and the course arrow pointing 90 degrees off my actual direction line. This was driving me nuts trying to figure out how to get from waypoint to waypoint. I finally decided something had changed to cause this because it hadn't done it at the beginning of the trip. I then realized what it was:. my da ducer apparatus with the puck antenna on top of it was under one of my HiTek rod holders. I had placed a pair of needle nosed pliers in the place I normally have crappie nibbles jars. Those pliers were within an inch of the puck. When I removed the pliers, instantly the reading went back to perfectly normal.

Some times we make things way too complicated.

Those Chinese stainless steel pliers can be lifted by a good magnet. I had to remove my Point One antenna because of impure stainless screws. Aluminum screws would not hold the weight. Ima working ona new mount. I don't need the Point 1 during cranking season anyway. Point 1 is a neat tricksy though.
